Traveling

I know this has nothing to do with food, though we have eaten our fair share and need to just fast for about a week!

I just need a moment to vent.  I am staying in a reasonably priced hotel.  It's family friendly and also right next to a casino.  Okay, here's my complaint.  Why can't people be more considerate?  We have not had a problem until the last unplanned night.  We have this family staying next to us and they have such heavy steps the floor moves in my room.  They do not use "inside voices" but appear to only know how to speak really LOUDLY (I can hear them over the television and air conditioner).  They also slam doors, run up and down the stairs and hall.  The kicker?  Their children don't know their room number and knock on my door to let them in.  As I am typing this I feel that I may bounce out of my chair because the floor is moving so much!

I just wonder if they have ever stayed in an hotel before.  What happened to teaching your children to be respectful of other people?  What happened to remembering you are in a public place?  Okay, you're in a private room but it's attached to other rooms that may have other travelers.

What is happening?  When did we become such rude, self-centered people?  There goes the floor again!

I remember when we traveled with the kids when they were small and we would remind them about being quiet and walking in the halls, not pushing every button in the elevator, and being polite to other people.  We kept the television volume down and tried to make sure they used normal voices and didn't act up.

Am I out of line?  Have you ever encountered anything similar?  How did you handle it?  I'm getting ready to check out and finally head home, but it's still aggravating to me that people are so rude.  Though most of them don't see it.  I suppose it's time to go and put it to the back of my mind.  Thank you for "listening" to my rant this morning/afternoon.
